New England Camp Nurse Workshop

Location: Camp Cedar, 112 Camp Cedar Road, Casco, ME 04015 -

Rte. 11, 1/2 mile north of junction with Rte 121.

 

This dynamic and comprehensive workshop covers the set up and organization of your health center, planning for opening day, managing the health center including medication management, and caring for common camp-related injury and illness. This all day workshop has been approved for 7.5 Contact Hours by the Maine American Nurses Association Continuing Education Approval Program Committee, an accredited approver American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission Accreditation.

Wilderness First Aid for Camp Nurses!

Course provided through the Emergency Care and Safety Institute and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Wilderness Medical Society. www.ecsinstitute.org

Location: Camp Cedar, 112 Camp Cedar Road, Casco, ME 04015. Rte. 11, 1/2 mile north of junction with Rte 121.

 

This course provides information on how to handle common injuries and illnesses when medical care is an hour away or more. Designed for camp counselors, trip leaders, and nurses who may need to provide care in remote locations. This comprehensive course will teach you what to look for and what to do in the event of an emergency, and direct you to the most appropriate type of care. Completely revised, the included course text book contains updated information on first aid and complies with current CPR and emergency cardiovascular care (ECC) guidelines.

 

Notice regarding CPR/AED

PLEASE NOTE, CPR and AED is included in this session and participants will receive certification for both WFA and CPR/AED.

Completely updated and revised to include the 2005 guidelines for cardiovascular resuscitation (CPR) and emergency cardiovascular care (ECC), This course integrates the training of CPR and AED into one simple program. This program teaches basic life support and addresses breathing and cardiac emergencies in caring for adults, children, and infants. The text includes: current information on injuries and illnesses presented in an easy-to-understand format, skill sheets providing step-by-step visual reviews of procedures discussed, flow charts reinforcing the decision-making process and appropriate procedures, outstanding photography and illustrations.
